I’ve been visiting Etsy for over a year now, but never took the time to look at the custom made crafts, clothes and jewelry made by its members until recently. I was surprised at the craftiness of each piece, some tailor made to your picky specifications. Here’s a list of my favorite Etsy artists doing great artwork, clothing and accessories.

I wished they could customize rings for its customers, but they do not at the moment. My love for bandanas led me to Kerry and her wonderful stitch work. Kerry makes a variety of bags, purses, pouches and covers. I fell in love with her Balloon Balls, cloth jackets for balloons that pimp your balloons to the next level. I requested that she make red bandana balloon balls for me, and I was surprised that she actually went to three stores just to find what I was looking for. She had them ready to ship within a few days, and when they arrived at my home I was playing with them in no time.

I stumbled upon this artist when I was looking for rose inspired artwork. Her work takes a wide range of inspiration, and includes everything from Star Wars to Mario Brothers and beyond. I asked her to create a custom Alice In Wonderland Black Rose Pendant for me that is probably the best and quirkiest piece of jewelry I own. My story on this instrumental mixtape is quite interesting!

A few days ago I received an email from a producer with the most intriguing name. I open the email an out pops “G-Flair”. He asked me to take a listen to his work and possibly post his mixtape to my website, after dawning me with a list of famed rappers who have built an appreciation for his work.

Up and coming producers usually talk about how great their work is without any real substance to their claims. In fact there have been many times when I’ve listened to the work of these so called “producers,” only to hear a cluster fuck of noise and nonsense. When I came upon G-Flair’s beats, my ears were blessed with ghetto symphonies.

Hailing from the United Kingdom, G-Flair is a promising new talent that is sure to amaze Hip-Hop fans around the world with his signature sound. My favorite instrumental from this tape is Paper Bag Money, a smooth track with a hint of depression. Still, the beat goes hard.

Another standout track,”Living My Dreams,” reminds one of the “good-life.” I wouldn’t be surprised if an established rapper here in the States is caught spitting over this medley of synths and crushing drums.

IT’S THAT GOOD!

Now I must be honest, not all of the beats on this mixtape are unique, and have that typical, popular Southern sound. However, the beats are organized perfectly and I would think twice before calling G-Flair’s work wack. It’s hard to make any type of great music. If you’ve never made a beat before, then I challenge you to make your own. You will soon see that it’s not easy.

I’m looking forward to hearing how G-Flair’s work progresses and improves over the course of his career as a beatsmith.

One of my favorite Mobb Deep quotes that solidifies what’s been on my mind lately.

Too many young people waste their time doing stupid shit, instead of being productive. I heard someone say that it takes about 10,000 hours, or roughly five years of your life in order to master the basics of the film industry. This is in addition to any school training you received. I tend to think this applies to most professions.

If you’re not willing to work hard while your friends are out having fun, going out, dating, getting married and having children, then you will never achieve greatness. If you can avoid all this, stay focused and make it out of your twenties still sane, then you’ll be rich beyond your wildest dreams. Rich in money, rich in power, rich in love, rich in family, rich in success. Like Mobb Deep says, “In Broad Daylight, Get Right” early on in life, so you don’t have to struggle later.

So Fuck My Twenties, I Have My Entire Life To Think About

My Recipe: Karmaloop, 40oz Van & New York’s “Infamous” Chopped Cheese

I realize I have only posted one food post since starting this blog, so after seeing this video I was inspired to post my version of New York’s Chopped Cheese.

My delicious recipe is below. You may notice that I do not give exact measurements. My goal is to force you to use common sense and “trial and error” in order to create the perfect recipe to your liking. You decide how much or how little of each ingredient you would like to use.

Spicy Ginger Cream Cheese Spread

Cream Cheese, softened

Minced Jalapenos

Minced Pickled Ginger/Gari Shoga

Pepper

  1. Combine the above ingredients in a bowl and mix until smooth.
  2. If you think you need more ginger, add more.

If you want the cream cheese to be spicier after you taste it, then add more Jalapenos. It’s all up to you.

You may want to leave the cream cheese out of your fridge to allow it to soften, this will make mixing so much smoother.

Garlic Bread/Toast

French Bread or Texas Toast

Unsalted Butter

Minced Garlic

Salt to taste

  1. Combine butter, garlic and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Mix these ingredients in the bowl until well combined.
  3. Spread this mixture on the french bread or toast and toast the bread.

Chorizo Ground Beef

Beef or Pork Chorizo

Ground Beef of Your Choice

Salt and Pepper

  1. Set your skillet at low heat and add chorizo.
  2. Cook chorizo until it melts and is fully cooked.
  3. While chorizo is cooking, place ground beef in a bowl and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Once chorizo is fully cooked, add seasoned ground beef to the pan. Cook ground beef to your preference (rare, medium rare, medium, well, etc.).

Suggested Condiments

Bacon

Sunny Side Egg

Cheese Slices, Cheese of your Choice

Tomato Slices

Avocado Slices

Shredded Lettuce

Caramelized/Grilled Onions

Pickled Vegetables

Barbecue Sauce

Mayonaise

Mustard

Combine all of the above ingredients in any way you like to create your sandwich.

If you want your sliced cheese melted:

  1. You can wrap your sandwich in a paper towel, pop it in the microwave and heat it until the cheese is melted. Don’t leave it in the microwave for too long because the cheese will become an overheated mess.
  2. You can also wrap the sandwich in foil and pop it in the oven to heat the sandwich and melt the cheese. This my favorite method because the bread wont get soggy and will have a nice crispness.

I like to serve these delicious sandwiches with a side of French Fries, but of course you can create any sides you want.

Dress For The Boss You Want To Be

Yesterday this young man said to me:
“If you don’t mind me asking, why are you dressed so classy?”
I said “Because this is the profession I strive for.”
He said “What’s that?”
I simply responded “Fashion”
He got the point. Dress for the profession you want in life, EVERYDAY, NO EXCUSES!
YOU WANNA BE A BOSS, DRESS LIKE ONE!

I see too many young men showing up to interviews, inquiring about jobs, and attending social events dressed like slobs. It’s a shame. The way you dress can mean the difference between you getting the job or client you want vs. failure.

More importantly than looks are ideas. We need to start thinking outside the box, educating ourselves more and experiencing environments outside our hometowns. It was obvious that the gentleman who asked me about my wardrobe had not been to Hollywood much, or was never told how to dress for success.

Hopefully I inspired him to dress for the boss he wants to be
