COMPTON IS A “PROBLEM”

If you’ve read some of my other posts, I love to give props to those artists who are talented, yet have not quite gotten the credit or recognition they deserve.  Today I will highlight Compton, CA rapper Problem.  Problem has been releasing material for the past few years, but this year is especially important for him.  Earlier this year he released a free mixtape entitled “Welcome To Mollywood,” in collaboration with Diamond Lane Music Group and the League of Starz music collective.  The sounds of this mixtape are definitive of the modern Southern California “Rachet” sound that was made nationally popular within the last year or so.  Problem also collaborated with E-40, providing the hook for “Function.” In fact, the hook for “Function” was sampled from one of Problem’s earlier songs entitled “Potion” ft. E-40 and Bad Lucc.  Now Problem has released “Welcome To Mollywood 2,” the sequel to his earlier, successful effort.  The new mixtape features League of Starz once again, who have seen great success themselves this year, as well as other producers and rap stars.  This time the production is hotter and the rhymes are more intense.  What I like about Problem the most is his flawless ability to develop a sense of rhythm in his voice.  His voice is so rhythmic he doesn’t need a beat to make him sound good.  It’s so hypnotizing that I sometimes miss some of his crucial metaphors, and I find myself re-playing his songs to understand what he’s saying.  Now that’s Talent!  I’ll leave you to do your own research on this great artist.  You may download Problem’s new mixtape and check out a couple of my favorite joints featuring Problem below.

Business Cards: Easy Step to Looking Professional

I received some brand new business cards in the mail today to make it easier for me to exchange contact information when I am talking to other business people, professionals, employers, or potential customers.  I can’t stress enough how important it is to have business cards in order to make yourself standout and look professional in this rough economy.  It surprises me when I meet other young business people such as myself who are looking for employment and/or call themselves professionals, yet they do not have a simple business card.  How do you expect to compete among the countless other Business School graduates in this country and around the world without this simple and easy to make tool.  In fact, it doesn’t matter what you studied in college or what professional field you are working in, YOU NEED BUSINESS CARDS…PERIOD!  So I am suggesting that if you do not have business cards, make some!

2 CHAINZ- I’M DIFFERENT (PROD. BY DJ MUSTARD)

I just heard this song, and it’s awesome.  I love that West Coast producers like DJ Mustard are getting the recognition and respect they’ve been waiting for.  This track reminds me of 80’s West Coast HIP-HOP.  Simple, well thought out, with Egyptian Lover-type strings that make for a nice dance track.

BOTC Presents: “Fashion’s Night Out”

This Thursday, Downtown Riverside, California will be turned into ONE BIG FASHION EXTRAVAGANZA!  A recently opened Boutique, BOTC (Back of the Closet) Boutique, will be hosting a Fashion event, “Fashion’s Night Out,” that is sure to please the fashionista in all of us.  As a San Bernardino, CA resident, I have never heard of or seen any event like this in the Inland Empire of Southern California…NEVER!  Many Boutiques and Vintage shops have come and gone through Redlands and Riverside, but with the initiative the store owners are taking to put together an event like this, it seems this boutique will stand the test of time.

There will be a RUNWAY SHOW, PERFORMANCES (K’SANDRA), DJ (DJ RUDEBOY), SHOPPING, FOOD, BAR, CELEBS, STYLISTS/DESIGNERS (MR. BRADSHAW, JESSIE J, LOR-E), THE WHOLE NINE.  This event will take place at the Crescent Jewell Restaurant, 3597 Main Street, Riverside, CA 92501, running from 8PM-1AM.  I’m super excited about this event, and encourage anyone who lives in the Southern California Area to attend.  You won’t be disappointed.  THIS IS A 21 AND OLDER EVENT!

RHU & RHO: SIBLING GODS

So for a little over a year I have been following a designer, sister-brother duo out of Los Angeles who calls themselves RHU & RHO.  They have been in the fashion game for a minute, but with the launch of their new website and products within the last few months I feel that they are finally getting the shine they deserve.

RHU (Rhuigi), the brother of the group, has recently released a pre-collection  of hot street wear under his RHUDE brand.  My favorite pieces from this collection are the Bandana Tee, in a black colorway, and a Virgin Mary inspired white tank.  The Bandana Tee is particularly notable, and has been seen on celebrities such as Tyga, Ryan Leslie, and Kendrick Lamar.  This may arguably be the best looking shirt this year, and is expected to be released in white and dark blue.  You may purchase the Bandana Tee at the RHUDE website for $150 (click the shirt on the right).  I got mine already, and it looks awesome!

RHO (Rhoxy), the sister-half of this super group, released a jewelry line earlier this year entitled RHOD.  Her RHOD bracelets are some of the coolest accessories I’ve seen in a while, weaving a chain together with brightly colored yarn that makes for a stand-out piece.  RHO will be releasing a dope necklace line soon for RHUDE that’s sure to bring the heat.  Visit RHO’s website here: http://www.therhod.com/.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what RHU & RHO come up with in the future.

Here’s a lil’ throwback vid, hope yall enjoy it!
