HIT-BOY: THE I.E. HITMAKER

Born Chauncey Hollis on May 21st, 1987, Hit-Boy has since made his way as a successful music producer.  This Fontana, California native signed with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label in early 2011, eventually leading to Hit-Boy’s biggest single to date, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Niggas In Paris.”  His journey does not begin here however, but starts with a rap collective entitled “Surf Club.”

Hit-Boy, along with his fellow Surf Club members: Chase N.Cashe, BCarr, and Chili Chill, eventually caught the eye of Atlanta producer Polow Da Don, giving Hit-Boy the opportunity to make it big in the industry.  Hit-Boy has now worked with a variety of artists, including his co-production credit on “Why Did You Leave Me” from Snoop Dogg’s Ego Trippin project, a co-production credit on Lil Wayne’s “Drop The World” ft. Eminem, producing “Goldie” by A$AP Rocky and “Way Too Cold,” the DJ Khaled and Kanye West collaboration.

Hit-Boy also recently released a mixtape, “HITstory.”  The production on this mixtape is crisp!  I encourage everyone to check out this mixtape on datpiff, IT DESERVES MORE DOWNLOADS!!!  Here’s the mixtape link:http://www.datpiff.com/Hit-Boy-HITstory-mixtape.382062.html.  “Old School Caddy” ft Kid Cudi is my personal favorite song from that mixtape with its smooth transitions and old school flavor.

Hit-Boy’s newest heater to hit the charts is the G.O.O.D. Music single “Clique” ft. Kanye West, Big Sean, and Jay-Z.  I personally love that catchy, synth bass that plays throughout the song.  “Clique” may arguably be the hottest Hip-Hop/Rap song out, but only time will tell if it can beat the heights achieved by “Niggas In Paris.”

P.S. Hit-Boy’s Uncle, Rodney Benford, was a member of the R&B & New Jack Swing Group “Troop.”  Just thought I’d let you know.

Have a great WEEK!
